People & Things We Like

Just Jinjer

Music rich with contemporary urgency and relevance as well as a timelessness and global reach that are sure to resonate far and wide into the future. The most successful rock band ever in their native South Africa if not a genuine phenomenon, now based in Los Angeles, Just Jinjer create a trademark propulsive and engaging sound that is more influential than influenced, and with a wide-open musical and lyrical spirit that draws in listeners and wins their hearts and minds.

In addition to being great musicians they are incredible human beings. They are committed to touching the lives of all they come in contact with in a positive way and we are privileged to call these guys our friends.

If you click on their album cover you will be directed to their web page where you can check them out for yourself.

Motivation

So this is one of the coolest videos we have seen in a long time.  We think everyone should watch it and become inspired. We think it sends an awesome message.  Don’t ever be a afraid to take chances and fail for without failure there can be no success.  Enjoy.

*While we don’t endorse the politics or religion of the people who created it, BlufishTV, we strongly endorse the message of the video.

Dirty Del’s

Located downtown near Petco Park, Dirty Del’s is one of our favorite sandwich shops in San Diego. The food is always excellent, service outstanding, atmosphere is chill and the flat screens surround you with sports like a warm blanket on a cold day.  Almost everyday there is some sort of food or drink special going on. Good food, good drinks and great people. In other words, the place rocks.

If you are downtown near the stadium stop by say “hi” to Brian and treat yourself to a sandwich and some beer.  Trust us when we say you will be glad you did.  All Secret Squirrel members who show their card when they order get any  beer for $2.00.

Make sure to tell him that we sent you so maybe we can convince him to create a Secret Squirrel Sandwich. To check out their menu simply click on their logo.

Playable Hours

So this site is mega cool; we love the philosophy of the founders and we highly recommend it to all

The idea behind “Playable Hours” came from a desire to shift our priorities.  Our friendships need nourishing, our relationships need nurturing, and our spirits need replenishing.  Without any time (because we have to meet those billable hours) how do we do it?  Just like we need efficiency in getting our work done, we need efficiency in planning our play… It’s about maximizing the amount of fun you have in those few hours you have reserved for your own life… it’s about finding our identities in our play as opposed to identifying with our jobs.  Plus, your wife wants you to take her on a date.

Our job is to do the work for you, so you can have the maximum amount of fun.  Your job is to show up…. in your relationships.

Check out why they started the site:

“As lawyers, my husband and I are overly familiar with putting work first and ourselves last.  Especially in this ”I worked over 80 hours this week and during church on Sunday” society we’ve all subconsciously created together, concepts like “billable hours” and “blackberries at the breakfast table” have become a normal part of our everyday lives.  Not just normal, but inexcusably expected.  Our very souls have gone to market, and collectively we are beating ourselves up.  But is working all the time really working for us?”

Molly & Adam (founders of the site)

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” George Bernard Shaw

Wine For Blondes

If you are a wine lover then we have the perfect site for you. Wine For Blondes is not just for Blondes.  Its for anyone interested in wine… from “Wine Blondes” to wine experts.

We are the next generation of wine drinkers and our motto is simple: Drink Yourself Smart.   We approach wine from a fun laid back point of view, and make it easy and enjoyable to learn about.

At Wine For Blondes, you will meet a host of interesting characters working and playing in the industry.  We will debunk and explain funky wine customs, myths, and traditions and translate wine speak into usable jargon.  But most of all, we will have fun, with wine.

This site was started by a member of the group and we think it is an awesome site so please click on the photo and check it out for yourself.
