Who We Are
We call ourselves The Secret Squirrel Society and we are a sports and social group whose focus is to join people together through playing sports, socializing, meeting new people and giving back to the community.
Our sports and social events are designed to build relationships within our group, our community, our city and the world. The Secret Squirrel Society is determined to make a positive impact in as many lives within our community as possible.
How we came up with our name.
A lot of people ask us how we came up with the name “The Secret Squirrel Society” and we often joke about it but the truth of the matter is that we were very specific in choosing it.
First of all we wanted a name that would easily recognizable, cause people to ask questions, make people smile and give those who joined a sense of belonging to an elite group. We also wanted to make sure that the name embodied more than just sports and hanging out rather a sense of community and responsibility to its members. This is why we chose the word “Society” instead of “group”.
While researching various names we discovered that Dictionary dot com defines “Society” as “companionship; company: the condition of those living in companionship with others, or in a community, rather than in isolation” and “a highly structured system of human organization for large-scale community living that normally furnishes protection, continuity, security, and a national identity for its members”.
It goes on to describe community as “a social, religious, occupational, or other group sharing common characteristics or interests and perceived or perceiving itself as distinct in some respect from the larger society within which it exists”. We believe that these statements best described the purpose of this organization and what we are hoping to accomplish. Thus the name “The Secret Squirrel Society” and not merely the “Secret Squirrel Sport and Social Group.”
We believe that we are different in the way that we operate and the way that we interact with each other and the world around us. We believe that we distinguish ourselves by the way we involve charities in all of our social gatherings and in the steps we take to show how we care for one another.
The Secret Squirrel Society Philosophy
The Secret Squirrel Society is a sports and social group whose focus is to join together locals through playing sports, socializing, meeting new people and giving back to the community.
- We believe that people should not isolate themselves rather they should get out of their comfort zone, meet new people in their area and become intimately involved in the lives of others thereby increasing their own quality of life.
- We believe that there are too many people who need the social interaction that sports provide in order to balance out their lives. We have a social responsibility to reach those who may be new to the area, have little or no family support or who simply have not had the opportunity to meet new people.
- We believe in fostering an attitude of giving in everything we do and are committed to putting the needs of our members above our own personal or professional goals.
- We believe that what separates us from other sport and social groups is that we are committed to making a positive impact on the world around us. We achieve this by involving various charities in all of our social activities.
- We believe that we are defined by our relationships; which is why our focus, as an organization, is to build relationships through sports and social events.
- We believe that we are not a group per se, but we are “Society” of active men and women with a social conscience in San Diego.
- We believe that each member of our group is unique and has chosen to share their talents and abilities with the rest of the group.
Secret Squirrel Society Creed
All Secret Squirrel Society members are to treat each other equally with kindness and respect regardless of age, sex, color, creed, belief, sexual orientation and/or financial status.
Membership
The Secret Squirrel Society is open to men and women of all ages and skill sets who like to play sports, laugh, share good company and give back to the community.

Our social events are designed to build relationships within our group, our community, our city and the world. The Secret Squirrel Society is determined to make a positive impact in as many lives within our community as possible.
