San Diego Dodgeball

We started playing Dodgeball in midsummer 2009 and we were amazed by the incredible and consistent turnout.  Rules are simple.  You get hit with a ball – you are out.  You catch the ball and the person that threw it is out…plus one of your teammates get to come back in.  The pace is fast moving and just as much fun as it was when you were the 6th grade.

Our exciting/non-competitive games of dodgeball, as with all Secret Squirrel sports, are pick-up (which means if you show up you play), 100% Co-Ed and open to all skill levels.

Unlike our more physical sports such as football and basketball our dodgeball is open to anyone over the age of eight so please feel free to bring kids if you happen to have them.  (All players under the age of 18 must be signed in by a parent or guardian the first time they play at either Rec Center, due to contract requirements.  Players under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult at all times).

The games will be semi-competitive, which means everyone can play hard, and there’s an incentive to win (winning teams generally get to stay on the court for another game, depending on the number of people sitting out), but our first priority is still to have fun, and we try not to take the game too seriously.

When we have time we even throw in a round or two of “Last Man Standing” – a variation where it is every person for themselves with a gradually shrinking court.

After the games we normally head over to a local restaurant for some post game socializing. The dodgeball social events are at all ages venues so that all of our members can join us for some good food, conversations and more laughs.

Due to popular demand The Secret Squirrel Society now has a second night for our Dodgeball games!!

These games will be played at Allied Gardens Rec Center, and will run from 6:30pm – 8:30 pm, starting Friday, June 17, 2011.

As always these games will be Co-Ed, pick-up, open to anyone twelve (12) year of age or older, and open to all skill sets.  As always, everyone who shows up is guaranteed to play.
